Elmhurst University

In an atmosphere that was festive despite gray skies and some afternoon rain, Elmhurst University held its 151st Commencement for the Class of 2022. On Saturday, May 21, nearly 850 undergraduate and graduate students took part in the three ceremonies held throughout the day, out of more than 1,000 Elmhurst students who earned degrees. The ceremonies marked the official end to the University's yearlong sesquicentennial celebrations, and "the first day of our next 150 years," President Troy D. VanAken said.

Over two warm and sunny days, Elmhurst University graduates of the Class of 2021 took part in a series of on-campus, in-person Commencement ceremonies. A ceremony for graduate students was held on Friday, May 21, and three ceremonies were held on Saturday, May 22 for undergraduate students. This year's ceremonies marked the start of the University's sesquicentennial celebration and is the first Commencement since the institution's name change. The Class of 2021 was also joined by the Class of 2020, whose ceremonies were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
